Alice Hawkins Book

This will be a special event to announce the award of a Heritage Lottery project in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland which will create a permanent Her Story archive of young people interviewing women who have overcome barriers to suffrage, race, freedom, migration and active citizenship.

There will also be the opportunity to meet Dr. Richard Whitmore, the author of the recently published Alice Hawkins book “Alice Hawkins and the Suffragette Movement in Edwardian Leicester”, plus chat to Alice’s great grandson Peter Barratt.

The Right Worship Lord Mayor of Leicester, Cllr Manjula Sood, will launch the project at 1pm.
